Water Flosser

Water Flosser

How can we make a better water flosser product?

The design of water flossers currently on the market is characterized by a large water tank, bulky body, and white and blue color scheme, a typical professional look for an oral care product. The product is not easily portable, can be difficult to grasp and operate, and users need to pour out the water they do not finish using, wasting time and resources.

With these pain points in mind, our design team worked closely with structural engineers to create a brand new mini water flosser. We restructured the component that houses the electronic and motor parts of our water flosser, condensing the space significantly. In order to reduce the size of the product even further, we worked with a specialized motor manufacturing company and developed the smallest motor on the market. This mini motor is just as powerful as water flossers on the market, hitting the 11 gram pressure mark at full capacity. We also investigated the average water consumption the per use of 563 users, leading to a calculated reduction in the capacity of the water tank. Other than rethinking the product from a functional point of view, we have designed a completely new aesthetic for the water flosser. The organic curved outline of the product is easy to grasp even for children, and the round edges and elegant simplicity makes the product look more friendly and stylish than its professional counterparts. Its compact size makes it ideal to carry around to different occasions, allowing users to cleanse their mouth after every meal much more efficiently than traditional flossing.
